Neurotechnology at EEMCS

Newsletter   13 May 2025
Dear colleagues,   You might know someone who suffers from a brain condition, like Parkinson’s, dementia, or migraines. Neurological conditions are very debilitating and have a huge impact on someone’s life. Last year, the Lancet Neurology reported that neurological conditions are the leading cause of health issues and disability, affecting 43% of the world’s population. Colleagues at our faculty and throughout TU Delft are working hard to contribute to (preventative) treatments for neurological conditions. During June 2025, we will highlight their amazing neuro-tech research through a TU Delft-wide brain campaign. Vasso Giagka will lead the campaign with her inspiring work on active neural interfaces, featured in a Story of Team Science.
Wouter Serdijn will share his work on tinnitus through a Tinnitus Symposium
And the NeuroTechHub, which includes Francesc Varkevisser, will host a challenge to develop a new neuro-tech startup.   At our faculty, we’re not only advancing neurotechnology — we’re also building a culture that supports the people behind the science. On 13 and 22 May, there will be an opportunity to join the conversation about topics such as social safety, professional attitude, (un)wanted behaviour, and integrity. A safe environment begins with an honest dialogue — and your voice plays a crucial role. Would you like to contribute, in your own way? Sign up for the Dialogue sessions for the new code of conduct. You can find more information about the Dutch and English sessions here or below in this newsletter.

Kind regards,

Lucas van Vliet
Dean of the Faculty of EEMCS
